This week’s cup matches in the KCB Shepway 6-a-side competition saw no surprise results.

In the first match of the afternoon Cheriton/Sellindge batted first against Etchinghill and reached 97-4 off their 8 overs with 22 from Dan Matcham and 19 form Lewis Osman.In reply Hill were all out for 78 after a remarkable last over from Matt Laker. Hill required 20 with 4 wickets in hand but managed to lose all their wickets without scoring a run.

In the second match Sibton Park reached 89 all out against Hythe Green with 22 from Steve Hickmott and 20 from David Stewart, James Wybrow and brothers Alan and Martin Smith took 2 wickets each. In reply the Green managed 64 all out with 22 from Patrick Jones.

In the third match Brook batted first against Stowting and were bowled out for 60, Tony Campbell scoring 19 and Dan Bland and Craig Harding taking 2 wickets apiece. In reply Stoting were 30-4 but Dan Bland 16 and Alan Harrison 19 saw them through to victory with 2 overs to spare.

In the fourth match Elham Valley B set the highest total so far in the 8 over format when they reached 116-4 against Mersham-le-Hatch, Tim Goss scoring 36 and all the other batsmen bar one scoring 15 or more. This proved too many for Hatch who finished on 86-5 with Jeremy Godden scoring 24 and Josh Marden taking 2-12.

The fifth match was a somewhat fractious affair between Folkestone and Hawkinge. Hawks batted first and reached 65-3 with 27 from Chris Jay and 20 from Terry McDowell, Flkestone reached their target in the 5th over with 18 from Stuart Graham and 19 from Peter Turnbull.

The final match of the afternoon saw Elham Valley’s A and B teams battle it out for bragging rights. The B team batted first but could not repeat their efforts of earlier in the afternoon when they closed on 86 all out with Tim Goss scoring 20 and Ernie Marden 18. The A team reached their target with 3 balls to spare with Francis Gush scoring 25, Jamon Smit 23 and Kavan Risby 21.

Cheriton/Sellindge 97-4 (D Matcham 22 ret, L Osman 19 no, D Lukehurst 17, D Baker 16) beat Etchinghill 78 all out (B Johnson 26, P Price 21) by 19 runs.

Sibton Park 89 all out (S Hickmott 22, D Stewart 20, T Lewis 16, J Wybrow 2-13, A Smith 2-23, M Smith 2-18) beat Hythe Green 64 all out (P Jones 22, M Smith 16) by 25 runs.

Brook 60 all out (T Campbell 19, D Bland 2-12, C Harding 2-14) lost to Stowting 64-4 (A Harrison 19 no, D Bland 16 no) by 2 wickets.

Elham Valley B 116-4 (T Goss 36 no, O Boughton 19, K Morphett 18, J Marden 16 no, E Marden 15) beat Mersham-le-Hatch 86-5 (Je Godden 24 no, D Hatton 18, D Shersby 17, K Baker 17, J Marden 2-12) by 30 runs.

Hawkinge 65-3 (C Jay 27 no, T McDowell 20 ret, R Hall 2-24) lost to Folkestone 66-3 (P Turnbull 19, S Graham 18) by 3 wickets.

Elham Valley B 86 all out ( T Goss 20, E Marden 18) lost to Elham Valley A 89-2 (F Gush 25 ret, J Smit 23 no K Risby 21 ret) by 4 wickets.
