Weekly Report – 20th February 2011

This week’s matches in Division 2 of the KCB Shepway 6-a-side league sponsored by Jimmy Godden saw Hawkinge clinch promotion, they will probably be champions even if they lose to 2nd placed New Romney in the final round of matches next week.
In the first match of the afternoon Stowting batted first aginst New Romney, they reached 107-5 with 23 from John Hill, but would have scored more if they had run a few more times in the final overs. This proved crucial as Romney won with only 2 balls to spare with Lee Smith scoring 37 and Andy Tighy 24, Dan Bland taking 3-32.
In the second match Hawkinge batted first against Brook and totalled 110-3 with 25 from Chris Jay and 21 from Phil Rowcroft. In reply Brook collapsed to 66 all out with Phil Rowcroft taking 2-12 to give Hawks an easy win and promotion for next season.
In the third match Elham Valley batted first against Etchinghill and reached 96 all out with 39 from Tim Goss and 19 from Josh Marden. The Hill reached their target with 2 overs to spare with 35 from James Glover and 33 from Nick Graham, Tim Goss taking 2-30.
The final match saw Mersham-le-Hatch record their first win to lift them off the bottom of the league. Hatch batted first and reached 96-all out with 33 from Jeremy Gooden with Dave Clipstone taking 2-36. In reply Westbourne were bowled out for 65 with John Mortimer scoring 31.

Stowting 107-5 (J Hill 23) lost to New Romney 108-5 (L Smith 37, A Tighy 24, D Bland 3-32) by 1 wicket.
Hawkinge 110-3 (C Jay 25, P Rowcroft 21) beat Brook 66 all out (P Rowcroft 2-12) by 44 runs.
Elham Valley B 96 all out (T Goss 39) lost to Etchinghill 101-3 (J Glover 35, N Graham 33, T Goss 2-30) by 3 wickets.
Mersham-le-Hatch 96 all out (Je Godden 33, D Clipstone 2-36) beat Westbourne 65 all out (J Mortimer 31) by 31 runs.
