Weekly Report – 20th March 2011
The matches in the penultimate week of the KCB Folkestone indoor 6-a-side season saw Elham Valley A clinch their place in the cup semi-finals and their was one surprise in the Plate competiton when 2nd division Brook beat 1st division Selsted.
In the first match of the afternoon which was the last of the 2nd round cup matches Elham Valley A batted first against Stowting and reached 103-5 with 48 from Francis Gush, 22 from Alex Feaver and 17 from Kavan Risby, this proved too many for Stowting who made a good start with 49 off the first three overs, but the introduction of Ryan Troth to the attack slowed them down, Ryan finishing with 3-18. Stowting closed on 88-5 with 27 from Dan Bland and 17 from John Hill.
In the next match which was the first of the plate matches Selsted easily overcame Saltwood, who batted first and mustered 63-3, with 22 from Grenville Cartledge, K Jenopan only conceedeing 1 run in his 2 overs. Selsted reached their target in the 4th over wuthout losing a wicket with 23 from Jenopan and 21 from Stuart Green.
In the next match Barahm batted first against Mersham-le-Hatch and scored 81-5 with 26 from Adam Lamberton and 24 from Joe Payne. In reply Hatch were bowled out for 62 with 17 from Dave Shersby, Adam Lamberton took 3-16 and Joe Payne 2-22.
In the next match Brook batted first and reached 105-3 against Selsted with 36 from Tony Campbell and 21 from Ian Lancaster. In reply Selsted folded to 59-4 against tight Brook bowling.
In the final match of the afternoon (because Hythe had conceeded against Westbourne as they couldn’t get a team) New Romney batted first against Elham Valley B and got revenge for a defeat in the league. They reached 77-5 off their 8 overs with 27 from Andy Tighy and 18 from Rob Liddell, Tim Goss taking 2-21. In reply the Valley finished 6 runs short with Sam Goss leading scorer on 16.
Elham Valley A 103-5 (F Gush 48no , A Feaver 22, K Risby 17) beat Stowting 88-5 (D Bland 27, J Hill 17, R Troth 3-18) by 16 runs.
Saltwood 63-3 (G Cartledge 22 ret) lost to Selsted 64-0 (K Jenopan 23 ret, S Green 21 ret) by 6 wickets.
Barham 81-5 (A Lamberton 26, J Payne 24 no) beat Mersham-le-Hatch 62-6 (D Shersby 17, A Lamberton 3-16, J Payne 2-22) by 19 runs.
Brook 105-3 A Campbell 36 no, I Lancaster 21 ret) beat Selsted 59-4 by 46 runs.
New Romney 77-5 (A Tighy 27 no, R Liddell 18, Z Ahmed 16, T Goss 2-21) beat Elham Valley B 72-all out (S Goss 16).
