Weekly Report – 6th March 2011
There was only one surprise result in the first round matches of the KCB Folkestone 6-a-side cup competition played this week, when Hythe Green beat neighbours Hythe.
In the first match of the afternoon Folkestone batted first against Selsted and were bowled out for 62 with Stuart Graham scoring 23 and Jenopan taking 2-13. This proved too much for Selsted who only mustered 40 in spite of sixes off successive balls by Joe Thresher in his 15.
In the second match Hythe scored 64 against Hythe Green with Matt Eccles scoring 19, in reply Green reached their target with 3 overs to spare with Steve Cave scoring 22 and James Wybrow 20.
5-man Westbourne batted first in the third match against 5-man Sibton Park and were bowled out for 45 with John Mortimor and Steve Bispham both scoring 15, Trevor Lewis taking 3-11. Park reached their target in the 5th over for the loss of two wickets.
In the fourth match New Romney reached 84-5 against Etchinghill with 26 from Dan Anderson and 15 from Gary Cooper, Ryan Currie taking 3-11. In reply Hill Reached their target in the 7th over with 28 from Paul Price and 22 from Joe Clancey, Zahid Ahmed taking 2-16.
In the 5th match Cheriton/Sellindge scored 99-1 against Saltwood with Danny Baker scoring 22, Dan Matcham 20, David Jones 20, and 18 from Matt Laker, in reply Saltwood reached 77-5 with 22 from Jeremy Russell and 18 from Dan Moxon.
The final match of the afternoon was conceeded by Barham to Hawkinge.

Hythe 64-5 (M Eccles 19 no) lost to Hythe Green 67-1 (S Cave 22 ret, J Wybrow 20 ret) by 5 wickets.
Westbourne 45-4 (S Bispham 15 no, J Mortimer 15, T Lewis 3-11) lost to Sibton Park 46-2 by 3 wickets.
New Romney 84-5 (D Anderson 26 no, G Cooper 15, R Currie 3-11) lost to Etchinghill 86-3 (P Price 28 no, J Clancey 22 ret, Z Ahmad 2-16) by 3 wickets
Cheriton/Sellindge 99-1 (D Baker 22 ret, D Matcham 20 ret, D Jones 20 ret M Laker 18 no) beat Saltwood 77-4 (J Russell 22 no, D Moxan 18) by 22 runs.
